Which series of disc springs are there?

Disc springs are divided into groups and series. There are three groups that each have three series. From a total of nine groups of disc springs, TEVEMA has six groups in the standard range.

Groups of disc springs

Each group of disc springs consists of three series disc springs. The series of disc springs are based on the thickness and the free length of the disc springs.

Group number

1

2

Thickness of the steel

<1.25 mm

1.25 mm to 6 mm

Material

Carbon steel

Alloy Steel

Hardness

HV 425-510 (HRC 42-50)

HRC 42-52 (HV 412-544)

Post-treatment

Zinc phosphate and oil

Series (according to EN 16983)

Serie A

De/t = 18

Ho/t = 0.4

Serie B

De/t = 28

Ho/t = 0.75

Serie C

De/t = 48

Ho/t = 1.3

The De is the external diameter of the disc spring.

The t is the thickness of the steel.

The Ho is the free length in the circle of the disc spring.

Disc springs pressure

There is a small difference between the theory and practice of compression in millimeters at certain forces. In the beginning there is a small deviation because of the roughness of the steel. In the end, the force is many times higher than calculated. This is because the disc spring is now flattened and will deliver maximum pressure. Hence, it is not recommended to use a disc spring this way because of the risk of wear and tear of the disc spring. Read more about disc spring calculations here.
